    Our Story

    Big Sky Telecom was founded in Missoula, Montana with a simple idea: local businesses deserve a local telecom partner. Back in the late 1990s, the options were limited — you either dealt with a national carrier that didn't understand rural Montana, or you patched together aging landline equipment and hoped for the best. We saw the gap and built a company to fill it.

    Local support matters in Montana more than almost anywhere else. When your phones go down and you're 90 miles from the nearest city, you need someone who understands rural connectivity challenges — poor internet in some areas, power outages during winter storms, and the reality that "next business day" from a national carrier might mean three days in the Bitterroot Valley. Our team lives and works here. We know the terrain, the infrastructure, and the businesses we serve by name.

    Over the past 25+ years, we've grown from a small Missoula operation to a provider serving 300+ businesses across more than 20 Montana communities — from Hamilton to Helena, Kalispell to Butte, and everywhere in between.
